The Green and Red
Digital video with soundtrack.
2011

The Green and Red is a 3D Opera.  This video is a sketch using test footage for another film that uses the two colours, opposite in the colour wheel and reminiscent of the red eye and green eye in  old 3D glasses.
The sound, or ‘Voice-Over’ is the driving force.  Fighting with itself over the subject, pushing the light switch.

The Light Room
Digital video with audio soundtrack.
2011

The light room, like a dream, is made up of images and movement – dislocated.  Pattern and repetition take precedence over narrative as the film moves from day to night or vice-versa.
The soundtrack was played and recorded in response to the film.  At times it drops out of sync, at times it is later layered and reversed.  Simple methods and sound-tricks, made with materials in the studio are used to describe movement, image and action on the screen, but are again dislodged.
The light room is an exploration of the creativity that is at the heart of a lie, the disruption in a known pattern and our unconscious need to break away from it.

I create as I Speak
Black and white super8 mm film digitally transfered

2010

The film shows the artists’ partner being tattooed with a word amulet meaning ‘I will create as I speak’. This carries significance in reference to the creation of the film, reaching further to the idea of the recreated limb, the body and person attached to it – now branded.  The fact that the words are not spoken leaves the spell uncast.  The way the film is edited obsessively repeated, reads as an attempt to relive the moment, the framing reminiscent of something amatiuer with the unease of home-made porn.  A sentimental expression to freeze a moment before it continues to change.
